- Contact: Between Adresser and Adresee, (Hearing words, printed pages).
- Code: Connections of meanings along with an organization pattern of the discourse as a whole.
- Context: Is the general subject that the message is about and what the speaker is referring to.
Communication clearly depends on not only recognizin the meaning of words in a utterance, but recognizin what speakers mean by their utterances. The study of what speakers mean, or "speaking meaning", is called pragmatics: The study of "invisible" meaning.
